Drama facilitation / creative consultation / facilitationA skilled facilitator with over 15 years’ experience, Carly delivers high quality, compelling drama workshops in formal education settings, participatory projects, community consultation and facilitation.
Carly was previously Head of Learning at Oldham Coliseum Theatre where she designed and delivered a range of participatory and community projects with underserved communities. Examples inlude large scale co-created projects, Textiles, Place and Generation: From Pakistan to Oldham, an action research project delivered with older women of Pakistani heritage and local textile artists, and Roma Connections and Gypsy Jam, projects to challenge inequalities and build the capacities of the Roma community in Oldham.
Carly is experienced in delivering curriculum based drama workshops. She was Festival Director for the Oldham and Rochdale Children’s Shakespeare Festival and has delivered a diverse range of bespoke workshops for KS1 and KS2 school groups across the North West, using drama in education / Mantle of the Expert approaches to enrich classroom learning. She offers Drama in Education (DIE ) CPD for schools wishing to embed these approaches.
Carly regularly facilitates community consultation to a range of briefs and delivers reflective learning sessions with staff teams to unpack and grapple with their practice. She has led on a range of large scale evaluation projects across the UK.
Her PhD in Applied Theatre focused on exploring young people’s connections to Oldham Coliseum as a place. She engaged a group of young co-researchers in the research process using photo documentation and elicitation.
