Fiction Feedback

Editing, critique and proofreading services for writers

Fiction Feedback is an editorial consultancy established in 2008. We help writers of novels and narrative non-fiction to get published, whether that’s through a traditional publishing contract or independent (self-) publishing. We also provide editing services for established authors and for publishers – and occasionally, we provide copy-editing, proofreading and copywriting for companies.

We operate a stable of freelance editors with different specialisms; for example: crime, historical, romantic and contemporary fiction, and memoir. We provide services from critiques to developmental and copy-editing, and one-to-one personalised advice on the publishing journey. We help with submissions, from writing a synopsis to assessment of your covering letter, and can offer advice on book marketing.

We also run Crafting Crime, an online course on writing crime fiction with Martin Edwards.

Editor-in-chief is Dea Parkin who has worked with many writers and authors over the decades and also works for the Crime Writers’ Association, facilitating prestigious international competitions such as the Debut (Emerging Author) Dagger and the Margery Allingham Short Mystery Prize. Dea’s expertise in editing leads to her being sought by organisers of talks and writing workshops at festivals, writing circles and libraries. Bloomsbury, the publishers of Writers’ and Artists’ Yearbook, commissioned Dea to write an article on editing for recent editions.
