Millie Elizabeth
University CentreMy name is Millie Elizabeth. I am a second year Musical Theatre student studying at Blackpool School of Arts. I have experience in lettings, customer service and negotiating, as I have worked within the property and lettings industry for the last three years. I also have experience working with children and entertaining, as I worked as a children’s entertainer at a Partington’s Holiday Park.
My responsibilities included:
To assist in the delivery of planned activities, entertaining children and adults to a high standard.
Showcasing singing, dancing and presenting skills.
To undertake DJ activities within the club area for the purpose of family entertainment.
To undertake mike work such as; bingo calling, introducing acts and comparing activities.
To supervise equipment such as bouncy castles etc.
To carry out activities such as; face painting, acts & crafts, character dress up (Grunty & Pom Pom)
In 2019, I starred in a BBC1 and BBC3 production entitled ‘21 Again’, which was a social experiment about the generational gap between mothers and daughters. On the show, I educated the mothers on sexuality, gender and politics, getting them to engage in a Women’s March, attend a gay bar, stage their own political debate and meet a transgender activist. Through this tv show, I was able to educate not only my mother, but the general public as well.
In July 2019, I campaigned for the pride flag to be hung above my hometown’s Town Hall for a weekend, to highlight the community and promote a feeling of acceptance within my small village. This then led to me co-organising the first ever Pride event in Ossett in September 2019, which was a very fun project to take part in. I was able to source photographers, local performers and decorations. This was a very strong achievement for myself, and I am proud to highlight the LGBTQ+ community.
I currently work alongside 2 performers, and together we represent a Drag Queen trio who tour across venues in Blackpool performing our own choreography. I perform under the pseudonym of ‘Miss Barb Wyre’, an AFAB Drag Queen of my own creation
