Amazing Cartoon Academy
Pop Up themed cartoon drawing workshopsMy name’s Stu, and I’m an illustrator working across the North West. For over 20 years, I’ve delivered pop-up, themed drawing workshops in schools, educational settings, and at family events.
My sessions take pupils step by step through creating simple compositions using basic, recognisable shapes and a fun dot-to-dot technique. We then bring drawings to life with sound effects, motion lines, 3D elements, and shading—making the experience engaging, interactive, and memorable.
Alongside workshops, I work in educational publishing with clients such as Oxford University Press and Scholastic. I’ve written and presented children’s books at library tours and festivals, created the regular My Little Pony comic strip, and designed the original Colin the Caterpillar packaging artwork for Marks & Spencer.
My Amazing Cartoon Academy workshops focus on creativity, confidence, and—most importantly—fun. Sessions can be tailored to curriculum themes, school values, or delivered as a unique enrichment experience. I also offer street art graffiti workshops using stencils and spray cans, giving pupils the opportunity to explore a different creative style.
I understand that some pupils can go a full term without dedicated art teaching. My workshops are inclusive, hands-on, and designed to leave a lasting impact—supporting wellbeing, reducing anxiety, boosting self-esteem, and encouraging positive engagement with learning.
In an increasingly digital world, I believe practical drawing skills remain incredibly valuable, helping pupils develop focus, imagination, and confidence, with the key message that no one can get art “wrong.”
