Transform Crafts is a Community Interest Company based in Burnley in Lancashire. We have just received our official registration on 27th October 2017 from Companies House and are embarking on the next exciting chapter in our story.
We have opened a shop to sell handmade goods made by local people. We have started it off with some of our own creations including original art works, cards, jewellery, woven scarves and linen table wears to name a few things. Our shop and building have been designed to be the Creative Community Hub for the area. For locals to bring down their items and sell through us and to help give a heartbeat and sense of presences to the existing creative community of the area. We haven’t stopped with just a shop though.
Teaching has always been at the heart of our project and on our 1st floor we will be delivering a range of craft and art classes. We are kicking this off with the relaunch of our crafty Tuesday class from 7th November which is for women only. The ladies will do different things each week whilst making new friends and something nice in a relaxed and friendly environment. These classes are just £3 per week to help with running costs. We have silk painting and card design and making waiting in the wings which will start before Christmas and about a dozen or so more that will start in the New Year.
All of this was still not enough for us and so we are also in the process of setting up a small boutique gallery which will hold its 1st exhibition later this month and will be fully operational and rentable in the New Year.
We started out almost 5 years ago as a project at a local charity and have grown and expanded into what we are now. We are really looking forward to getting back to teaching and working with the local community and hope that our aim to make Transform Crafts the Creative Community Hub for Burnley and Lancashire will soon be a reality.
